Structure of a website
The structure of a website
The foundation
The structure of a website begins with a good foundation, a content management system, also called CMS for short. We work with the WordPress CMS. Of course there are other CMS systems as well, but because WordPress has a market share of almost 40% it is the most popular and not without reason. It makes working on the website easier.
In the past was the structure of a website differente than today, a website was only created with HTML, CSS and a little JavaScript. That meant writing a lot of code to get the functionality and look you want. The CMS system saves you this work, because plugins can be installed on the CMS system that already include the entire code of the desired function.
The Theme
The theme, a design template, is then installed on the CMS system. In practical terms, the theme forms the basic structure, i.e. the cornerstones of a page, and already gives the page a rough look. There are hundreds of design templates from which a suitable one can be selected so that your page can look the way you want.
Content is very important in the structure of a website
The page is filled with text and images. A very important topic because that's exactly what you want to reach your customers with. Above all, well-considered text and meaningful photos make your site perfect, both for your customers and for Google and Co.
The content is programmed manually in pure HTML code and not by a page builder, which creates a lot of nesting and unnecessary code. Another advantage is that you keep the small details under your own control. But it would now lead too far to go into these technical details.
Plugins
Plugins primarily take care of certain functions on your site, such as B. a contact form or a picture gallery. Other plugins ensure security against external influences.
Plugins should be carefully selected and used very sparingly, because a lot of unnecessary code makes the site slow and you definitely don't want that. We reduce the plugins to the bare minimum. In any case, a plug-in is installed on every website to protect against hackers.
The styling
The penultimate comes the styling, how the page ultimately looks in detail. A job that requires experience and knowledge so that it looks perfect on all screen sizes. Well-written code also plays an important role in this. The principle is always that only the most necessary style information is written in order to keep the amount of code small.
Optimization (SEO)
The last step is the optimization, the fine-tuning, so that your page loads as quickly as possible. Search engine optimization, or SEO for short, is the most difficult topic when creating a website.
Extensive knowledge is necessary to achieve good results. The optimization is here at the end, but it already begins with the selection of the theme and the plugins and extends through the programming of the website to the last point.
We won't give a guarantee for a 100% fast website, but it is possible to get into the green area (90% points). That, as just described, depends on the overall structure of the page, but mainly on Your individual wishes. At the beginning of 2021, Google will prefer fast websites in the search results and thus position them better.
Conclusion for the structure of a website
A fast loading website and good content (content / text) are the basis for being listed in the search results. We take care of the technically fast website, the content is in your hands.
